If I took pics of celebs on a cruise and create a book with an online program, is it illegal? My own use only?
I want to use a program like blurb to create a book detailing my cruise. There were numerous concerts on this cruise and we were allowed cameras. I want to make a book using these pictures just for my own personal use, but when I asked the book makers they gave me a vague answer. Is it illegal to use pictures I took of celebrities in a book that I do not intend to sell?

for personal use is not illegal, but when it comes to commercial use then it is. you can say its about you and not them.

I don’t know what how you define celebrity, but let’s say that it is someone quickly recognized by the general public. In cases like that, you can use the pictures, whether you make money from them or not.
Take for example the paparazzi. They stalk celebrites in an effort to get pics and then sell the pics to magazines, etc.
What you cannot do is use the images of private people. You cannot post them without permission from the people in the photos.
What you propose: to assemble a book of memories of your cruise is perfectly legal.
You cannot, however, use photos of them that are copyrighted by another individual or entity.
